a letter from Board President Andrew Boone
Dear Friend of Elm Shakespeare:
For a moment, we were captivated this summer. In spite of such “tempests” as a hurricane and an earthquake, we experienced beautiful evening skies with a soft halo moon illuminating our magnificent “Measure for Measure” set design. And once more, 30,000 people sat united in our city to experience the power of Shakespeare in Edgerton Park! In these uncertain times, what a triumphant gift this has been. And will continue to be, with your help.
There is much news to share. As we embark on our 17thyear, our educational collaborations with the New Haven Public Schools and The New Haven Housing Authority continue to thrive. We are proud to provide arts programming to over 1,000 students each year inspiring them with a lifelong interest in the arts!
We continue to need your help. I recently found an editorial published a few years back in The New Haven Register describing Elm Shakespeare as “… providing a welcome relief to so much of the canned, packaged and overpriced entertainment that we have become accustomed to in recent years.” Your support is what makes this possible.
To our friends old and new, we ask that you help us preserve this wonderful gift to our community. We know that resources are limited and your gift is evidence that you value what Elm Shakespeare brings to the community each summer and throughout the school year.
With warm thanks and regards,
Andrew P. Boone
President
