Elm Shakespeare Company’s Staff Members and YES! Members have compiled a selection of arts and crafts, learning games, and projects inspired by Shakespeare and his plays! You can complete each of these activities at home with minimal art supplies necessary! Make A Romeo and Juliet Mask for the Masquerade Ball!
Your child will be the star of the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet Masquerade Ball in these homemade masks! In this activity get your hands glittery while teaching about Shakespeare’s most famous lovers, Romeo and Juliet.
Make A Romeo & Juliet Inspired Book Scene
Do you and your kiddo love the Balcony scene of Romeo and Juliet as much as we do? Why not re-create it with this fake pop-up book? You can also try this idea with other iconic scenes from Shakespeare’s plays!
Make A Bard-Inspired Ruffle Collar!
You and your little one can dress up like Elizabethan Shakespeare, the Bard! All you need is some coffee filters, ribbon, scissors, stapler, staples, a hole punch, and some time!
Make A Paper Crown!
Imitate Queen Margaret in Shakespeare’s Henry VI Part 3 by creating a paper crown to give to your enemies! This paper crown is a wonderful craft to ignite a discussion about any of Shakespeare’s plays dealing with royalty, which is a great deal of Shakespeare’s canon! To create this crown you will need scissors, a pencil, cardstock paper, glue, tape, and the printable crown template.
Make A Prop Dagger for all of your Shakespearean Tragedy Needs!
This prop dagger is the perfect art craft to aid your discussion of plays such as Macbeth or Julius Caesar. To complete the project you will need cardboard, tin foil, a glue stick, duct tape, a utility knife, a pair of scissors, and the printable dagger template. You can also use these instructions to make a full prop sword by drawing a longer blade!
Create A Paper Ship Able To Bear Any Tempest!
Build a Shakesepearn ship that will sail through the conversations of The Tempest and Pericles. You will need a wooden dowel, a cardboard box, paper straws, hot glue, scissors, and a pencil
Make A Paper Quill!
Write your very own Shakespearean Comedy or Tragedy with this homemade paper quill! Use coloring pencils to decorate the quill then cut along the dotted line, except for where it says “Fold Here”. Once you and your child have cut out the quill place and tape a colored pencil in the center of one feather then fold the other feather over and tape the two sides together.
Build Your Globe Theater At Home!
